Anthropic Launches Claude Duet App
The new tool targets professionals and small firms with automated task management and data-driven insights.

Anthropic has officially entered the crowded market of AI productivity tools with the release of Claude Duet. The company is positioning this new agent to compete directly with established rivals like Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, and several emerging startups. The goal is to capture the attention of users who are currently overwhelmed by the constant stream of new personal assistant applications launching every week.
The new software is specifically designed for professionals and small business owners. Anthropic emphasizes that Duet is built for automating and managing complex work tasks rather than handling casual personal errands. The company notes that the agent is not ideal for booking tickets or performing simple chores. It also differs from other tools because it does not show users its browser activity in real time.
Instead of acting as a general-purpose helper, Duet focuses on delivering actionable business intelligence. It can generate daily briefings, build custom dashboards, and suggest specific actions based on the user's existing data. Like other autonomous agents, Duet operates in the background using its own virtual machine. This allows users to focus on other responsibilities while the software works. It will only interrupt the user if a specific approval is needed.
This launch reflects a broader shift in the industry. The market is moving beyond simple chat assistants toward agents that can actively work on behalf of users. Many of Anthropic's competitors are already targeting business use cases. For instance, Meta offers a version of its Muse assistant tailored for small businesses with app connections. Similarly, OpenAI's Dots integrates with various professional tools to serve a corporate audience.
Duet is powered by the Claude Opus 5.5 model. It features a proactive monitoring system that delivers recommendations as tasks unfold. The agent has access to more than 6,000 connectors and plug-ins through the Claude Marketplace. It can also handle online purchases on a user's behalf using Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay.
Security and user control remain central to the design. Sensitive actions, such as making payments, require explicit user approval. However, the agent will not trade securities or transfer money between bank accounts. Anthropic also introduced a new classifier to scan each message. This tool helps prevent sensitive data leaks. By default, the agent will decline requests for credit card numbers or government identification documents.
Claude Duet is currently available for iOS, Android, and web users. It is accessible via Claude.ai for Pro and Max customers who are in a research preview. Users must join a waitlist to gain access to the new tool.
