Samsung's next foldable phone arrives in China on October 29, according to details posted this week by the leaker Ice Universe. The device is called the Galaxy W27. It would be Samsung's final foldable release of 2026.
The specifications attached to the W27 match those of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the company's top foldable model for 2026, and the design lines up with that device as well. Ice Universe posted an image showing a glossy blue back with gold accents around the triple-camera array.
The W series has been a yearly Samsung fixture in China. Each generation has carried extra styling touches and elaborate packaging. The phones are rebranded versions of Samsung's top foldable for that year. One exception came in 2024, when the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition went on sale beyond China.
Wide-format foldables are selling in China. Xiaomi's latest foldable uses a nearly identical form factor, and Huawei has shipped wide foldables longer than any other maker. Samsung has repeated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is performing well, and the company says the iPhone Duo has drawn attention to it. Analysts have said foldable display shipments will rise 44% in 2026 as wide foldables reach the market.
Samsung has several new foldables planned for 2027. The W27 would close out the current year if the leaked date holds.
Samsung has also pushed Android 17 updates to a range of Galaxy devices.
