Google moves Gemini settings into one place
The Android update consolidates scattered preferences and reorganizes the chat list, following the rollout on other platforms.

Google is delivering a structural overhaul to the Gemini app on Android, moving the entire settings interface onto a single screen. This change eliminates the previous split between the account menu and a separate settings area. The update is currently deploying via server-side delivery, meaning users receive it without downloading a new version of the app.
The redesign follows a series of recent modifications to the application. These included the renaming of Spark features to Task and the launch of Gemini 4 Argon. The same side panel and settings changes reached iOS, macOS, and web users last week. Android users are now seeing the update arrive more broadly across the platform.
The navigation drawer has been reorganized to prioritize recent activity. The search function has moved to the top-right corner of the interface. New chat remains the first entry in the list. Library now sits directly beneath New chat, rather than near the bottom of the drawer as it did in previous versions.
To prevent the navigation drawer from becoming crowded, the app now displays only five items at first. A "More" option expands the rest of the list when tapped. For subscribers to AI Ultra, the full list reads: New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.
The settings page now opens with Manage account and Usage limits. A Preferences section follows, containing Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. Theme is the one entry marked as new in this section.
Two further sections complete the new settings page. Data & privacy includes Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and the Privacy Help Hub. The Get support section lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.
The account menu has a narrower role in this update. It is limited to switching accounts, leaving feedback, or getting help. This shift consolidates all other preferences into the unified settings page.
Other recent developments in the Gemini app include Gemini Notebook becoming available as a Connected App for deeper integration. Free users are moving to "Auto" models as the app adds thinking levels. A new "Map" tool also arrived, replacing the "/" shortcut with "@".
