The market for connected pet care equipment is seeing a brief surge in affordability this week. Fi has announced a significant reduction in prices for its line of satellite-enabled tracking devices, aiming to make advanced location technology more accessible for owners who monitor their animals' movements.

The promotion runs through October 25 and applies to multiple models within the company's catalog. Shoppers who apply the code SCARY at checkout will see a thirty percent reduction on select hardware. The most notable beneficiary of this sale is the Fi Ultra, a device previously reviewed by this publication. Following the discount, the retail price drops to $209.30, a figure that aligns with the unit's original launch cost before recent pricing adjustments.

The hardware itself is built for durability and wide-area coverage. The Fi Ultra holds an IP68 rating, meaning it is fully waterproof and safe for use in saltwater environments. Battery performance varies based on the animal's activity level, with the device offering up to five days of power on a single charge. It attaches to standard collars or harnesses and utilizes a hybrid network of LTE, GPS, and Starlink satellite signals. This combination allows the unit to report location data even in areas without cellular service. The device also features haptic and audio alerts to capture a pet's attention. Fi positions the product as the first tracker to integrate T-Satellite, Starlink, GPS, and LTE into a single unit.

Earlier testing of the device in remote regions of South Carolina yielded mixed but generally positive results. Location accuracy was precise during trials. However, the data refresh rate, which occurs every two to three minutes, may be too slow for very fast-moving dogs. Battery drain accelerated significantly when the Lost Mode feature was active, reducing the runtime to roughly two days. The physical size of the unit suggests it is better suited for medium to large breeds rather than small pets.

Owning the hardware is only part of the cost structure, as an active subscription is mandatory for tracking functions. Fi offers introductory discounts on the first billing term. Subsequent plans are available for six months, one year, or two years, with longer terms providing lower monthly rates. A one-year commitment costs $99 for the initial year and $189 annually thereafter. These services are currently restricted to the United States, with a notable gap in coverage for Alaska.

Other tech deals are available for those browsing during this sales period. Amazon is listing the Kirby Air Riders game for Nintendo Switch 2 at $48.99, a reduction from its standard $69.99 price. The title features deep customization options for characters and vehicles. Additionally, the JLab JBuds Talk USB-C microphone is priced at $24.99, well below its typical range of $50 to $100. It supports high-resolution audio recording with four directional modes. Finally, a Lego Star Wars set featuring Grogu in beskar armor is available for $103.99. This 1,200-piece kit includes interchangeable facial expressions and a movable head mechanism.
