Pueblo residents are facing a 30-degree temperature drop this weekend after a final stretch of 80-degree warmth on Friday, Oct. 23. The city’s forecast lists a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52, marking the peak of the current warm spell before a cold front crosses Colorado.

Morning temperatures in Pueblo started in the 50s with broken clouds, but sunshine emerged along Interstate 25 around 10 a.m. as the sky cleared. The front, moving from the west, is expected to bring increased cloud cover and generate storms farther south. While the chance of rain on Pueblo’s south side is only 10% to 20% on Friday, that likelihood rises significantly over the weekend.

Temperatures will fall sharply as the front moves through Friday and into Saturday morning. Saturday’s high is forecast to reach only the 50s, a stark contrast to Friday’s peak. Colorado Springs, located north of Pueblo, will see a lower high of 73 degrees and a low of 47 as the same weather system passes through the region.

Nearby communities will experience similar shifts. Canon City may see a few afternoon showers with a 20% to 30% chance of rain, a high of 75 degrees, and a low of 49. Woodland Park is expected to be much cooler, with a high of 58 and a low of 39, followed by afternoon clouds and weekend rain chances.

The warm spell is ending across the broader area. Walsenburg and Trinidad will reach highs of 73 and 74 degrees respectively, with lows of 49. For these southern cities, Friday is forecast to be the warmest day of the next seven before highs drop into the 50s. The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start, while mountain areas will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s.

Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede. Conditions are expected to become calmer next week with sunshine and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary outlook for Halloween calls for dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, though that forecast could change.
