Samsung has identified 40 specific Galaxy phones and tablets that will receive its next major software update. The company confirmed the list through its Japanese division, providing a clear timeline for when these devices will get the new operating system. This update, based on Android 17, follows the initial release on the Galaxy S26 series in September.
The schedule indicates that updates will begin rolling out in Japan during October 2026 and continue through November 2026. While the timing is specific to the Japanese market, the list of eligible devices is expected to apply globally. Owners of older entry-level models may see their updates arrive later, potentially extending into December and January 2026.
The list of eligible smartphones includes a wide range of flagship devices. Flagship models listed include the Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S25, S25 Ultra, S24, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, and S23 Ultra. Samsung also included several foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5. Mid-range phones on the list include the Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36, and A25.
Tablet owners are also included in this phase of the rollout. Samsung listed the Galaxy Tab S11, S11 Ultra, S10, S10+, S10 Ultra, S10 FE, S10 FE+, S10 Lite, S9, S9+, S9 Ultra, S9 FE, and S9 FE+. The roster for tablets also includes the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024), Tab A11, Tab A11+/5G, and Tab Active 5 Pro.
The published list is not exhaustive. It omits certain devices, including the "Plus" versions of recent Galaxy S flagships and many other Galaxy A models. Specific devices sold exclusively in other regions are also missing from the document. Samsung stated that the company will continue to expand the update to more devices beyond the initial October and November window.
This update marks the next step in Samsung's software distribution strategy. The One UI 9 update debuted on the newest hardware in September and has since spread to previous generations. The confirmation by Samsung Japan serves as a benchmark for global expectations, allowing users to verify if their specific device model is on the path to receive the new interface and underlying system features.
