Southern California residents can access 21 free events this month, according to a newly released calendar covering activities from the coast to the inland valleys. The list emphasizes cultural celebrations, outdoor education, and local history without an admission fee.

Dates range from November 5 to November 22. Several events fall on specific weekends to accommodate work schedules. The calendar includes musical performances, nature walks, and seasonal ceremonies. Some activities require registration to secure a spot, while others operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Jazz enthusiasts can board the Queen Mary in Long Beach on November 5 and 12. Admission to the ship is free for those who reserve online in advance. Live blues and jazz performances take place in the Observation Bar from 6 to 10 p.m. on those dates. The event is open to guests aged 21 and older.

Day of the Dead observances appear in multiple cities. Norco hosts a celebration at the Barn at Ingalls Event Center on November 5. Participants are encouraged to bring photos of loved ones for a communal altar. Riverside holds its 23rd annual festival on November 7 and 8. The two-day event features live entertainment, Lucha Libre, and community altars on Market Street and in White Park.

Outdoor activities include an astrophotography class in Pioneertown on November 6. The session runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and requires a mirrorless or DSLR camera. Beginners can learn camera settings and composition before shooting in Pipes Canyon. A guided nature meditation walk is scheduled for November 8 in Laguna Beach. The route is less than one mile long and ends with a tea ceremony.

The calendar also lists a Community Powwow in Santa Ana on November 14. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and includes dancing, singing, and arts and crafts. It is open to all ages and includes pets. In Pomona, a Day of the Dead celebration coincides with the 2nd Saturday Artwalk on the same day.

Seasonal lights and holiday traditions begin late in the month. The Manhattan Beach Pier lighting ceremony is set for 7 p.m. on November 18. The event includes choir performances and a visit from Santa at Metlox Plaza. Riverside’s Festival of Lights ceremony occurs on November 21 at 5 p.m. The display illuminates the Mission Inn and the surrounding downtown area.

Additional options include a classic aircraft display at the San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte on November 22. Owners of vintage planes will be available to speak with attendees. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free admission and parking. A movie screening of The Sting is scheduled for November 18 at the Fullerton Library.

The list serves as a resource for families and individuals seeking low-cost entertainment. Organizers for each event provide specific contact information and registration links. Weather may affect some outdoor programs, so participants should check for cancellations on the day of the event.
