Yodi Marcos told the outlet Posta that she has promised to watch over Rafael Delgado, the 29-year-old son of the late María Alicia Delgado. The actress died on November 4 at the age of 77. Her death resulted from cancer that complicated in her final weeks.
Marcos, a former partner of actor Carlos Bonavides, described the early days following the death. She said Rafael did not fully grasp the severity of his mother's condition until five days before her passing. He arrived at the hospital to see nurses changing her clothes and bandages. The shock of seeing his mother in that state helped him accept the reality of the situation.
According to Marcos, Rafael is now calmer because he knows his mother is no longer suffering. She noted that the actress remained active until the end. Delgado worked on the program '¿Tú Crees?' right up until her illness worsened. Marcos believes that seeing her mother at peace offered some relief to her son, even though the timing was early.
Rafael faces the future without his mother, but he is not alone. Marcos stated that he is surrounded by family. However, her specific role has become central. She recalled a promise made to Delgado before she died: to stay close to her son. This commitment was born from years of shared time that created a strong bond between the two women.
The relationship extends beyond just a guardian role. Rafael views Marcos as a second mother. He interacts closely with Tadeo, the son Marcos had with Bonavides. The young man visits their home, eats there, and maintains frequent communication with the group. This arrangement provides a stable support system in the absence of his biological mother.
Delgado’s career left a mark on Mexican television and film. She starred in the sitcoms 'Cero en Conducta' and 'XHDerbez.' Her acting credits also include telenovelas such as 'El Diario de Daniela,' 'Amorcito Corazón,' 'La Vecina,' 'Enamorándome de Ramón,' and 'Monteverde.' Her work in comedy and drama defined her public image for decades.
Her son Rafael has lived with hearing loss since birth. Delgado worked consistently to cover the costs of his university tuition and his hearing aids. She kept working to ensure those financial burdens were lifted before she passed. That financial goal was a primary driver of her late-night schedule and her refusal to slow down despite her health issues.
