The Class 6A high school football regular season in Minnesota concluded Friday night. Roseville captured the Metro Maroon subdistrict title, marking its first such victory since 2017. The Raiders defeated Coon Rapids 24-14 to finish the season with a 4-4 record.
Senior quarterback Chase Browning led the offense with 162 passing yards and three touchdowns. He described the team's effort in a postgame statement: "It's an amazing feeling. I don't even have words for it. We've all worked so hard. It's great to see it finally paying off."
Other results across the east metro shifted playoff seeds. Centennial defeated Anoka 38-6, a score that likely guarantees the Cougars a No. 3 seed. Anoka was held to single-digit scoring for the first time this season. Mounds View took sole possession of the Metro East title by beating White Bear Lake 22-16. Quarterback Tanner Jude scored on a one-yard run with 65 seconds remaining. A successful two-point conversion extended the lead, and Preston Johnson intercepted a pass on the final possession to seal the win. The Mounds View defense limited White Bear Lake quarterback Wyatt Stachowiak to six completions on 24 attempts.
East Ridge ended its season with a 42-31 win over Woodbury. Logan Tretter rushed for two touchdowns, and Elias Mather returned an interception for a late score. Forest Lake running back Mack Jurkovich recorded the night's top individual performance. He rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-13 victory over Stillwater. The win secures a No. 2 seed for the Rangers in the Class 6A playoffs. Jurkovich, a committed St. Thomas recruit, finished the regular season with 1,600 rushing yards.
Park junior receiver Manny Vargas scored twice in an 18-10 win over Eastview. He caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt 75 yards for another score. The most dramatic finish occurred in the south metro. Lakeville South kicker Dylan Nelson hit a 36-yard field goal with one second left. The kick gave the Cougars a 17-14 upset victory over Rosemount. The result complicates the seeding picture for the south metro in the upcoming playoffs.
