Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet is expected to make his 2026 season debut on Monday night. The 4-3 team hosts the 5-2 Chicago Bears at Lumen Field to conclude Week 8. Charbonnet, who tore his ACL during the NFC divisional round playoff win against the San Francisco 49ers in January, appears on the final injury report without a game status designation. This listing indicates he is available to play.
The status of first-round rookie Jadarian Price remains less clear. Price has missed the last four games with a chest injury while on injured reserve. To play in Week 8, Seattle must activate him by 4 p.m. on game day. ESPN and other outlets report that Price has been designated to return, but the official transaction has not yet been finalized. Coach Mike Macdonald said the team will let the transaction speak for itself regarding the rookie's availability.
Seattle faces a strategic challenge against a high-powered Chicago offense led by quarterback Caleb Williams. To limit Williams' time in the game and slow down the Bears' pass rush, the Seahawks plan to lean on their ground game. This approach is critical for quarterback Sam Darnold, who holds the NFL's worst expected points added per dropback when pressured at -0.63. To support this strategy, Seattle acquired offensive lineman Quenton Nelson in a trade. Nelson is likely to block for both of the team's top running backs in his debut with Seattle.
Macdonald confirmed the coaching staff has a plan for both Charbonnet and Price. He noted on Saturday that any roster moves regarding Price would occur on Monday. The coach mentioned that the team is working through several roster issues but has a specific plan in place for Charbonnet's return. If Price is not activated for the Week 8 game, the Seahawks have two more weeks to decide his status before he must move to season-ending injured reserve.
Should Price sit out, running back Emanuel Wilson would likely share the rushing workload with Charbonnet. Wilson currently leads the Seahawks in rushing yards with 403, rushing touchdowns with three, and carries with 111. The team will make final roster decisions leading up to kickoff on Monday night.
