Dallas Stars forward Miro Heiskanen provided the decisive pass that ended the game in overtime on Thursday.

The assist came at 3:47 of the extra period when Roope Hintz scored on a breakaway. The play originated from a defensive effort by Jason Robertson, who blocked a Winnipeg scoring chance. Heiskanen then quickly transitioned the puck to Hintz, who finished the sequence to give Dallas a 3-2 win.

Robertson played a dual role in the final minute of regulation and the start of overtime. According to Heika, a turnover by Robertson created the initial Winnipeg opportunity. However, Robertson's block neutralized that threat and set up the counter-attack that produced the winning goal.

The Stars relied heavily on their top defensive pairing due to the absence of Esa Lindell. Heiskanen logged 29:20 of ice time, while Thomas Harley played 28:27. Lian Bichsel recorded 17:47, with Nils Lundkvist, Tyler Myers, and Kyle Capobianco also contributing minutes. These totals indicate a heavy workload for the primary defenders throughout the contest.

Winnipeg took an early lead in the second period when Johnston scored. Gabriel Vilardi and Kyle Connor responded later in that period to put the Jets ahead. Dallas trailed until Hintz scored a power-play equalizer with two minutes remaining in regulation, setting the stage for the overtime winner.

The Stars dominated in shot attempts, outshooting Winnipeg 38-19. Despite the numerical advantage in offensive chances, Dallas was forced to work for every goal because of Winnipeg goaltender Skinner, who recorded 35 saves. Heiskanen finished the night with five shots, one block, and the winning assist.

The game did not establish a return date for Lindell or a permanent adjustment to the defensive rotation. For this specific contest, the Stars managed the workload and secured a victory through a single finish in overtime.
