Ukraine restores satellite speeds to full capacity

Ukraine restored satellite speeds to full capacity after restrictions were lifted on 24 October. The president said the recovery began overnight and reached the level required for military use by morning. The Ministry of Defence confirmed speeds above 400 km/h and a stable connection. The restrictions had previously limited Ukraine's ability to use drones and affected frontline logistics.

The announcement followed a period of disruption, when Starlink and Starshield equipment stopped working at speeds of 130 to 161 km/h in several sectors along the line of contact. The restrictions also drew attention at the political level, with US President Donald Trump claiming the White House had not been involved. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had proposed restricting the bandwidth of the satellite networks used by the Ukrainian military.

Zelenskyy thanked everyone who helped Ukraine get its communications working again. He described the development as very important, pointing to its significance for frontline logistics and for protecting Ukraine from jet-powered Shahed drones.

The Ministry of Defence issued an official confirmation, saying it was registering speeds above 400 km/h and that the connection was stable. The restrictions had previously interfered with logistics and limited Ukraine's ability to use drones.
