Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo released a strategic plan on Tuesday that defines nine specific policy priorities for the 2027 to 2030 period. The document outlines concrete goals for state operations, including new standards for data center development and expanded rural healthcare services. This release occurs as Nevada voters head to the polls to select their next governor.
Lombardo first took office in 2023 after winning a special election. His current term runs through 2027. The strategic plan was finalized during his second year in office, setting a four year timeline for implementation. The administration prepared the document to guide state agencies and legislative sessions during the next electoral cycle.
The plan groups its initiatives into nine distinct categories. Education and workforce development aims to align training programs with business needs. Economic growth strategies focus on reducing regulatory burdens and supporting small businesses. Health and wellness efforts target workforce shortages and rural service access. Public safety and infrastructure investments prioritize transportation, broadband, and statewide resilience.
Government support services will undergo modernization to improve interagency collaboration. Rural and natural resource policies emphasize water conservation and energy development. Housing initiatives seek to increase supply and reduce development costs. Fiscal stewardship measures aim to reduce fraud and improve oversight of public funds. Finally, the plan introduces specific standards for data center development to protect ratepayers and natural resources.
"The Nevada Way is about delivering results for the people we serve," Lombardo said in a statement. "That means running an efficient and accountable state government, providing dependable services, practicing fiscal responsibility, and creating opportunities for hardworking Nevadans." He added that the plan sets a path for practical solutions and measurable progress.
State agencies will begin aligning their budgets and operational goals with these nine pillars in the coming months. The legislative session in early 2027 will consider bills that reflect these priorities. The full text of the strategic plan is available on the governor's website for public review.
